This is the Place Where You Do Not Have to Hold Your Breath Anymore
Held & Heard is not a program.
It is not a five-step plan for getting through your grief or an online seminar about moving forward. It is not a platform with content to consume or a community where you perform your healing for an audience.
It is a presence. An outstretched hand. A place that says, finally, you are safe to grieve here.
Two words. An entire theology of what you deserve in your sorrow.
Held means someone is close enough to feel the weight of what you are carrying — and they do not step back. In grief, that is everything. The world steps back. It gets uncomfortable, changes the subject, sets a timeline. Held & Heard does not step back. We draw close. We stay. We hold the weight with you for as long as you need.
Heard means your story is the most important thing in the room. Not a footnote. Not a quick prayer request before we move on to the next thing. Your loss — at whatever stage, however early, however long ago — is real. It deserves to be received fully, unhurriedly, without anyone glancing at the clock.
The ampersand between those two words is not decorative. It is the whole point. You cannot be truly held without being heard. You cannot truly be heard without being held. They happen together, at the same time, from someone who is not going anywhere.
Held & Heard was made for the woman who has been grieving quietly because the world did not make room for her sorrow. For the woman of faith who is wrestling with God in the middle of loss and needs a place where that wrestling is not only allowed but welcomed. For the woman who has been strong for everyone else and has never had anyone sit down, look her in the eyes, and ask how she is really doing.
It was made for the woman in the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community who has never seen her experience of loss reflected in a ministry — who has always been on the outside of spaces that were not built with her in mind. She belongs here. This was built for her too.
And it was made for the woman who found this in the middle of the night, scrolling through her phone when the grief had nowhere else to go, and something stopped her — because it finally said the thing she had been waiting to hear.
However you arrived here, you are exactly who this was built for.
There is a moment in Matthew 9 that I keep coming back to. A woman who had been bleeding for twelve years — invisible, exhausted, with nothing left to try — pressed through a crowd just to touch the edge of Jesus’ robe. She did not push to the front. She came from behind, barely hoping, reaching with whatever she had left.
And Jesus stopped.
He turned toward her — this woman the world had moved past — and He called her daughter. Not patient. Not problem. Daughter. Seen. Known. Held.
That is the heartbeat of this ministry. Not that your grief will be fixed, your questions answered, or your pain rushed through. But that Someone has stopped for you. That Someone sees you reaching from the back of the crowd. That you do not have to have it together to be met here.
You are held. You are heard. And you are not alone.
Held & Heard is a ministry of presence for women grieving pregnancy, infant, and child loss — and for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community that has always deserved a place at the table. Held & Heard exists to sit with you in the hard places and not leave.
Your grief has a home here.
